Afro hair care basics

Natural haircare 101

These are the basics you should know about taking care of your natural hair. Don’t worry, when you start at first it will seem difficult but once you get a hold of it and learn more techniques on how to care for your hair you will begin enjoying the whole new experience.

 Tools for natural hair

·         Wide tooth comb: you know the combs with the big space in-between them. That’s the one am talking about. It will help you get through all the tangles in your hair. These should be your best friend.

·         Silk scarf :because natural hair loses a lot of moisture using a silk scarf will help retain moisture whilst you sleep.

·         Elastic hair bands: it helps hold hair together in smaller sections so that you can work through with your comb one section at a time.

·         Plastic Shower Caps. I use this when I am deep conditioning my hair. I sometime even use the rubber bag to cover my hair when I can’t locate my shower cap.

·         Plastic hair pins: help hold your hair in place.

·         Fingers :using my hands works best for me when I have tangles. I gently go through my entire hair most of the time before I even use a comb.

·         Other great tools I found on the internet are boar brush , Denman brush(I had my sis buy this for me on her trip abroad) but I have failed to locate these in GH. Just in case you know where to get one, let me know.
